About the Studio
The studio is run by Carolyn McLeod-McCarthy who has a passion for teaching, visual arts and special events planning. Carolyn currently has one artisan market: Creative Spark Winter Market (Guelph) and is working on a new summer market for Guelph. She hosts year-round workshops and classes for all ages, runs kids summer arts-focussed camps and PD Day activities. With a musical background thanks to her parents and being a part of the local Royal City Ukulele Ensemble for 5 years from it's humble beginnings, she branched out on her own and now teaches the ukulele to all ages. She also loves to learn new techniques to bring to her classes, a way to ignite creativity for all!

Carolyn comes by her love of all things artistic quite honestly. Her mother is a fine artist, fibre artist, embroiderer, knitter, quilter... anything to do with fabric and thread. Her father, although no longer with us, was very fond of photography and fine woodworking and passed on these skills to an enthusiastic daughter who uses his prized tools to this day. Carolyn shares her interest in photography with her husband, Mathew McCarthy, who is a photojournalist and videographer for the Waterloo Region Record.
